My nine year old son has two grey hairs. He also has a small patch of hair which is slightly lighter than the rest. It is not really noticable. What can it be? Is it normal to have a couple of grey hairs at his age? Is it anything to worry about? Please help.

I'm no expert, but it may be because he has moles (those little brown spots) on his head and the hair growing from these may be gray. A teacher at my school had a birth mark on his head which resulted in a huge white patch.
My brother, who has blond hair, has had a small patch of black hair on his head all his life. The patch is slightly bigger in size than a fifty pence piece. He is in his thirties now and it has caused him no ill effect !!
Nobody has hair that is all exactly the same colour, but usually they are evenly mixed, so if the different ones are concentrated in one place, or, like the greys, are in contrast to dark hair they may not be noticed. It's all normal, and just adds a bit of variety. And far better than the alternative which affects me, where any colour is better than none at all!
