After weeks of the communial door not closing properly due to someone disabling it, I managed to talk them into fixing it again yesterday
This morning it had been disabled again, some people have no repect for anything, I am at a loss , as there seems nothing I can do to make sure of my security in this building, any views on this ?
I can only sympathise, over the years this has happened here many times. Not bad at the moment - excuses have ranged from 'I keep forgetting the code' to 'My friend is coming' and everything in between.
My late husband soon got the hang of checking it every day and undoing their handiwork.
As you say they are selfish and also if on your Home Insurance you state that there is security on the property and they later discover it is disabled, it may well influence any claim.
Invest in a fake CCTV camera and stick it somewhere everyone can see. Point it at the door and start the rumour that the landlord has fitted it to catch the person disabling the door.
Tamaris, you've misunderstood the advice. The LAST thing you need is a FAKE camera :-) You need a REAL camera but one which is disguised to look like something else or, much better, to be completely undetectable.
Go to amazon.co.uk and do a search for "hidden camera" - there are a lot of options :-)
