About 35-40 years ago there used to be an advert on Granada with the song "Beer at home means ??????? that's the beer, lots(?) of cheer" .

Can anybody remember what the beer was and was there any more to the song.   The tune's been running through my head for a couple of weeks now and it's driving me doolally!!!!!

'Beer at home means Davenports
Thats the beer, lots of cheer
The finest malt with hops and yeast
Turns a snack into a feast
Straight from brewery, to your door
Why collect, we'll deliver
Soon you'll know why folks all say
beer at home means Davenports

Cheers!

Spooky! My brother and I were only talking about this the other day and were amazed that we could still sing the jingle word for word. The advert screened at the weekends (mostly Sundays) round lunchtime when they used to show Brian Ingles 'All our yesterdays'

Happy days!

The saddest part about this is, having worked there I am the proud owner of 3 promotion discs with this song, first in it's original version, 2nd a waltz type version, and 3rd a tchaicosky (stupid name anyway) version....I have everybody jealous now..

Sorry Murvic, I never answerd the question, Davenports originated from Birmingham, delivering all beers to houses, and pubs, they had many depots won many prizes for the top brew delux and other beers, Carl Daniels always said at the end best bitter at 14p per pint or how much it was at the time...Greenhall Whitley bought the company, as it was a threat to thier sales and decided to close the operation, making all of us redundant
