Scotland has a wonderful one...'bidie-in'...based on the word 'bide' meaning to dwell or stay. So, a bidie-in is a woman who 'stays in' one's house...ie a resident lover.

I don't know another name, but bidie-in sounds like a very old woman. I don't like common law wife either.

Concubine?

De facto
Most commonly used when referring to a common law spouse as the de facto wife or de facto husband. Not legally married but living together.
used!

Believe me, Maggie, I've never known an old bidie-in, never mind a very old one. (When I say 'known', I mean of course 'at a distance'!)

umm partner, girlfriend..

As has been said before on here, legally (in the uk at least) there is no such thing as a common law wife or husband.

I am intrigued by your question title?

lol- thank you Woofgang, I thought I was just being dim for not making a connection between the title and the question!
I'd go with bidie-in - but then I'm Scottish
