Help Me Lose This Please.

Pop up of Software Manager. If I click the red x in the corner the rest of the screen vanishes leaving the pop up. Obscuring my view. Words of one syllable please, bearing in mind I know nothing and understand less.

Look in.... Start ...Control Panel ..... Add/remove programs

or in Windows 7 ........... Start ... Control Panel ... Programs and Features


To see if there is a Software Manager installed. If so, run the Uninstaller.

If it's malware (as I suspect it is) it probably won't be listed within the Add/Remove options.

Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/
Points to note:
1. When installing, take care to deselect the option to install free trial of the 'PRO' version ;
2. When running it, use the 'Quick scan' option ;
3. Don't be surprised when that 'quick' scan takes over half an hour to finish ;
4. When it does so, click the button to view the results, ensure that there's a tick alongside everything listed and then click the button to delete what's been found.

Best to 'Quarantine' them rather than 'delete' if your unsure what your doing.
I've had to retrieve something myself.
