Is it possible to print photos from a DVD which is playing on a PC? I have a a few family events which I've put on DVD but would like to have some still photos. Unfortunately, I've wiped the tape that I recorded it from. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Yes indeed, if you download and use the free VLC media player you can pause the DVD anywhere while its playing and then press a key to copy the picture to the clipboard. Then its simply a case of opening paint and just pasting the picture from the clipboard and saving the picture ready to print out.

Just be aware that DVD quality is really not that great so you wont get a great looking photo if you are printing it really large.

VLC will create JPGs straight from the video - if you right click and press Snapshot it will create an image straight into My Pictures.

I think there's a shortcut key as well, but I can't remember it.

Haven't tried it myself as I'm in work and no DVD player on this PC (!) but couldn't you pause the film, and just press 'Prt Sc' (print screen) that should put the screen shot onto the clipboard for future use.

Possibly?

re my previous answer - I tried it on my lap-top, and it does work. VLC is probably the best bet though. Print screen is a bit limited in what you can do with the result.
