I have just come down with a really bad cold - when I have one this bad is ends up going to my chest. Is there anything I can take that may prevent this happening. I am arranging my sons 21st party for Saturday and have to do the catering etc., Talk about timing!!!

I am exactly the same and it can be debilitating, so I know how you feel.

My GP is excellent. I know if I have an URTI very early on - I get a pain between my shoulder blades. The first sign and my GP prescribes antibiotics.

It means the difference of an illness that is managebale to being laid up for up to three months.

Get to your GP right away.
Yes I agree with Ethel, antibiotics will help if taken immediately. Luckily over here we can buy them over the counter. I take Clamoxyl.

Maybe not so lucky netibiza, the link is one of hundreds found warning about use of antibiotics:

Sorry but the link doesn't work, but is well worth your time to put " dangers of overprescribing antibiotics " into google and read some of the findings.
