Just looked at the tickets that say tickets offered for resale will be declared null and void. Now these tickets have my SIL's name printed on them. Will this cause us a problem? Will they think they have been sold?

I've never attended on a public ticket so I'm not sure how it works. Does it state anywhere that you have to show supplementary ID, e.g. the card they were purchased with?
Question Author
No mention of ID. I wouldn't be able to show any ID in his name so a bit worried we may not get in.
Question Author
There is a phone number for enquiries, I will ring tomorrow.
They were a surprise gift for your birthday, weren't they....☺

Yes gness, good memory!
I don`t know about the Chelsea Flower Show but at the Hampton Court one, ID is not required. I think the resale clause is more to do with touts than general show goers.
it's years since I went but I don't recall anyone ever asking me for ID. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have some if your nam eis the same as your SIL's but I'd be highly surprised if you didn't just walk straight in.
Question Author
I hope so 237sj.
When I last went to Hampton Court flower show, the tickets didn`t even have a name on them because I won them from the local newspaper. I wouldn`t worry about it.
Question Author
That's the problem, my name is not the same as SIL!
Question Author
Why is my life not straightforward. There always seem to be hitches and snags?
I think you`re just being overcautious. I have been to a million ticketed events. Music concerts, free tickets from an exhibitor friend at the Ideal Home Show, flower shows. You could phone if you want but the name on the ticket won`t have to match yours. The resale thing is to stop other unauthorised agencies selling the tickets.
in that case, don't bother with any ID. As 237SJ says, this is to stop touts, not people giving tickets as gifts. You won't need to show your gas bills.
Question Author
Thank you for putting my mind at rest folks.
I think you will be ok, lots of Events say this, its to stop people selling them on eBay or similar for more than they paid.

I often see 'free' tickets for sale on there & people buy them.
