Definitely NOT wages

Hi - it is the total value of all your purchase receipts for the three months that the return covers. It is the total without VAT.

In short all your purchase receipts must be a VAT receipt with the total of NET price, VAT & Final Total to Pay. It is the total of all the NET prices, but you must hold receipts which shows the VAT you paid out on purchases.

You include all purchases for resale and expenses such as rent, utility bills etc but not wages unless you are paying this to an agency who are charging VAT. Normal wages paid by yourself to employees should not be included. A quick call to the NAS (number on the back of your VAT return) will give you an answer to any queries you may have.
