Thanks thought it was too good to be true when I heard some were reduced to 40. But mine is not in that category.

Does it not only apply to vehicles registered after 2001? I thought it went on the G/KM emission figure, this data was not available on vehicles produced before 01.

Depends on the age of your escort. If before 1st March 2001, you will be covered by the amounts in the first table. If after 1st March 2001, you need to know your emissions (g/km of CO2). This will be shown on your V5 (Registration document). http://www.dvla.gov.uk/vehicles/taxation.htm

The last Escort was produced in 2000, so no Escort should come under the G/KM measurement, thus it should be under the other system of over or under 1549cc which dictates how much you are charged. Hope this clarifies!
