Has anyone seen any good movies recently that they can recommend. The Constant Gardener has been much praised by critics but I dont think that necessarily always means it will be enjoyable to watch.

I have watched "The Chronicles of Narnia : The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" nine times so far.
Million dollar baby. I didnt fancy thisbut watched it & its superb

i agree with what you say...... Brokeback Mountain was praised by how many people.....everyone i think and i found it to be a waste of 2 hours of my life

i'd recoommend Brokeback Mountain...if you're a girl!! Men dont seem to like it for some reason..!!

I keep hearing critics insisting that "Brokeback Mountain" not be described as a "gay cowboy" movie.

What is it then, a science-fiction comedy?

When these "cowboys" ride the horses I trust its on their "backs" and not ...
Ray is a really good film and its got good music in it too.
If you are renting diana.m give The Village a go, it is amazing.

Top films that I have recently seen - Brokeback Mountain (and I agree that it should not be described as a "gay cowboy" movie. The guys are bi-sexual, not gay!)

Inside Man, Walk the Line must both be added.

Lord of war has just come out with Nicholas Cage, saw it at the cinema, was brilliant.

Walk the Line is fantastic, a must see!

I loved "Memoirs of a Geisha"

Thank you. I have seen Ray, I enjoyed that and thanks James you made me laugh, as some other comments, (thats the best part of answerbank). I havnt watched million dollar baby, I too didnt fancy it but I may give it a go. Thanks cus there are some titles I havent heard off. so I have been given lots of choice.
Has anyone seen Carlito's Way. What a spectacular acting performance by Sean Penn's rediculous hairdo. It shud have got an oscar.

Hi, Diana... I recently went to see the new Pierce Brosnan film, "Matador", which looked kind of unusual - and it certainly was..!! He plays a very seedy, down-at-heel hit-man on the verge of a breakdown, who befriends a decent, honest businessman one night in a hotel bar...!! To be truthful, I found the plot itself very unlikely, of course, and less than involving - but the good side was seeing a masterful actor working very hard to play a very different part to his more usual roles. It's a bit of a slow-burner with not much in the way of pace - but it's always fascinating to watch a fine actor playing completely against type, and very few Hollywood favourites actually have the courage in their careers to even attempt it. His two main supporting actors were wonderful too, and all in all I'm glad I spent the time and money giving it a chance. But I urge you... just please DON'T go if you want to see Mr B as another smooth, capable, heart-throb James Bond type, because if you do, you'll be VERY disappointed..!! :o)

Thanks TommyC I have seen a trailer for that film and I thought I might enjoy that one. I think when an actor is acting against typecast, they need to work harder to be credible. I cannot enjoy films with Meryl Streep, yet I know she is classed as a talented actress by the film critics in serious roles she seems to have only a couple of facial expressions in her repertoire, sad and sadder.
