Im going to Lanzarote soon and Ive just got a htc wildfire s. I dont want to use the internet but need to text home. Can I turn something off on the phone or would it be easier just to put the sim into my old phone? Im on tesco

I don't know how it works with Tesco, but I'm with O2 and I needed to ask them to switch on the international traveller service - otherwise my phone wouldn't work outside the UK. Give Tesco a ring and ask them what you need to do.
..and yes, switch off the data download option - OH travels abroad and he was unwittingly getting charged £2 a day for a GPS locator service.

Chuck, thats brill, thanks, I had that before and couldnt find it. Boxtops, my old phone switched automatically when I turned it on abroad, I will phone tesco tomorrow. Thank you
