Henry the 2nd (who will rid me of this meddlesome priest)

Through his defiance, ambition and downright bloody-mindedness, the only person to blame for the murder of Thomas Becket was Thomas Becket, himself.
he does seem to have displayed a certain arrogance, henneth, but blaming the victim just isn't on.

Saint Thomas a Becket

Four knights who came from France.

according to http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/14676a.htm

St. Thomas would not comply with them about absolution of some bishops... I got bored reading :)

They left for a space, but came back at Vesper time with a band of armed men. To their angry question, "Where is the traitor?" the saint boldly replied, "Here I am, no traitor, but archbishop and priest of God." They tried to drag him from the church, but were unable, and in the end they slew him where he stood, scattering his brains on the pavement. His faithful companion, Edward Grim, who bore his cross, was wounded in the struggle.

Wasn't Becket just voted 2nd worst villain in British history back in January?
The man who ordered the killing of Thomas a Becket was Henry 11, Edward 1 (Long Shanks) Grandfather, as he got too big for his boots.
