Me too - but people I know who smoke don't watch it. Their choice.
If you've never smoked you'll not understand joeluke.
I have watched the ads and to avoid the problem I only smoke 14 fags
It's gross isn't it! If I were a smoker I would hope it would put me off (I'm not) but the smokers I know are all willing to take a chance that it won't happen to them.

It's a hellish powerful drug.
Take more than a few blisters to put me off!
I think what would put me off even more would be if they showed the tumour spreading to the smoker's fingers and him not realising until his hand was nearly covered.
I don`t think graphic images on TV or on cigarette packets would make much difference. They have been putting really graphic images on packets of cigarettes in Australia for a while but that hasn`t made any of my friends there give up. People have the "It wouldn`t happen to me" mentality. Being around someone who becomes ill from smoking is much more of a deterrent but the problem with video and pictures is that they are too remote.
It is gross, but then alcohol causes cancer and other health problems too. Are there hard hitting adverts for that also? I just think it's too little too late. In an ideal world no one would smoke, but then in an ideal world no one would drink or take drugs. Most of us have our vices.
The smokers I know just look away or switch channel when the ads come on.
My Dad goes out for a fag!
Personally, I can`t see the analogy between alcohol and tobacco. Alcohol in moderation is not detrimental to the health but no such claims can be made about tobacco.
The gory advert on TV and the pictures on fag packets never put me off smoking when I did, I stopped simply because I couldn't afford them anymore.
I'm sure there used to be adverts on the dangers of drinking and driving on the telly. We don't see them anymore - I wonder why?
Well done B00. I know many who can't afford them but still buy them - they'd rather go without summat else.
It looks like bubble gum. I'm really not scared by bubble gum....
