Curiosity got the better of me and I recently downloaded a couple of those celeb prorn films circulating the net. Problem is my laptop keeps freezing (could be a sympton of these downloads) and the company where I bought it need to take it in to check it out. I will be so embarrassed if they see the files hidden on on my hard drive somewhere. I have deleted all temporary files and cookies. Could they be stored anywhere else? Where can I check? Cheers

Do you have Spyware / Adware or Anti Virus software? If so have you tried scanning?

If your system freezes it might be becuase of the "entertainment" (Don't stress, i'm sure we have all downloaded such :-)"

Have you tried to load Windows in Safe Mode? Do you still have the same problems?

As for the pictures:
Do a search on your c:\ drive for *.jpg then have a look at all the pictures and delete the ones that shouldn't be there. Do the same for the type of movie downloaded i.e *.mov or *.avi or *.wmv
Remember to empty your recycle bin!!

LOL...you more than likely picked up a nasty virus from the site ...........serves you jolly well right..........delete you may, but they will still be recoverable when the Porn Police come round..........Naughty person............commoner <G>
Try and sort the problem yourself first - you certainly won't make matters worse.

It is very likely caused by some nasties you inadvertently downloaded. Curiosity killed the computer. :)

Turn off system restore. Run your spyware and anti-virus programmes. As many as possible.

I recommend A2, AGV, Spybot, Ewido and Ad-Aware as a bare minimum. All of these are free.

Make sure you have a good firewall - I use ZoneAlarm, again free.

When you have finished turn system restore back on.

This is an excellent link to plenty of free utililty programmes:

And good luck!
Ah ha -

you can see we've all been here already -
and I have nothing to add to the advice you've been given..;->

One thing - if you download any file which is a compressed file -
or one with an .exe extension - ignore it. Don't touch it -
not until you've scanned it thoroughly with Av and anti-spyware tools.
I save all my downloads to a removable external disk and scan them all at the end of the day.
even when they are from a trusted site.
