As has been suggested, some people go out of their way to offended these days.

It reminds me of the story about the little old lady that calls the Police, because there is a man in the block of flats opposite exposing himself at his window. The Police arrive, mob-handed and find the old lady sitting on a chair at the window, trembling anxiously. The Police look out the window but can't see anything amiss. "Oh no" the old lady said, " you have to stand on the chair"
