US declared war on Great Gritain in 1812 and General Hull actually invaded Canada in July of that year. After that, I suppose the next one was the war with Mexico of 1846 - 1848.

There were earlier wars 1798 America Franco Naval War, 1801 Barbary Wars against Morocco
