do ribena really use 99% of all britain's blackcurrants?

what happens to all the apples?

i was amazed by this statistic when they first started using it on their ads. what about all the supermarket own brand blackcurrant squashes and robinsons? and blackcurrant pie filling, and fruits of the forest gateaux, and blackcurrant jam? surely that adds up to more than 1% of the total!

Apples? I thought Ribena was pure blackcurrant?


According to the website 95% of all britains blackcurrants become Ribena. This is because Ribena actually grow on 5000 acres and this equates to 13 billion blackcurrants!! The 5000 acres are equivalent to 2450 international size football pitches. If you put all the blackcurrants side by side they would stretch 3 times around the equator!
