I hardly slept last night. Today would have been my sons birthday. I got up this morning feeling really down. Made a drink and took it to Mic, he was breathing really bad (COPD). Called the Doc. She arrived, then the district nurse, then the carers. By noon I realised that because of Mic everything else had gone by the by. I started to feel guilty then gave my self a good shake. Life is for the living. I know my lad would not want me to neglect Mic because I was too busy grieving for him.

A foot note to this... Lloyds chemist have been the most helpful of anyone I have dealt with. When the Doc left a 'script' with me they came to the house picked it up and delivered it back to me within half an hour. I intend to say the same to the said chemist. Thank you Lloyds.

:-( My thoughts are with you.
This thread has given ME a good shake. Kind of puts things into perspective.
does mic have another chest infection ?
Jeza, I honestly cannot imagine what you go through on a daily basis.
Jeza, life is a leveller isn't it? You get your head down and do what you have to, my admiration for you is complete.

Hope they have helped Mic with his breathing too, take care my love.

I do agree re Lloyds Pharmacy, they were great with me when I needed Scrips that filled 2 carrier bags.

Yes Anne, chest and urine. I ensure he drinks a lot, milk coffee and tea. He refuses to drink plain water. I sit him up as much as possible to try and alleviate his infections. I feed him high protein full fat diet and his pressure sores are much improved since he came home.

It's a good job I'm not (that) house proud as most of my time is spent washing, ironing, cooking and taking care of him.
I'm so, so sorry if I've already asked this. I genuinely do have a horrendous memory, but what is wrong with Mic?

Baby, In the past Mic suffered COPD plus back problems due to an accident years ago. About a 18 months ago he had a slight stroke. 4 months ago he had a massive stroke. He can't walk so is in bed all the time. His speech is not good and his memory is practically non existent.
do you have any help, family or otherwise?
all best wishes to you both
my heart goes out to you Jeza, I know exactly what you re going thru, make sure you also get proper meals and take care of yourself too, nice to have good back up like Lloyds. Your lad would be very proud of you for looking after his dad the way you do, dare I say to you when things get too much and believe me I know they can, put your coat on and take a short walk around the block or similar, I used to and it worked wonders.
big hugs to you Jeza xx
