Hi, all, think this should be in jobs and careers, but think I may get more response here. And this will seem like a stupid, last minute question. But I have an appeal hearing tomorrow, re my daughter 6th form college application. I am very bad at expressing myself, especially infront of very educated people! But am dreading any questions they ask. That I may freeze. Any hints or advice appreciated. ASAP!

Easier said than done, I know but relax.

Take a deep breathe before you answer any questions, and think about the answer.

Most importantly smile!!

Hope it goes ok, good luck!!

Right down possible questions they might ask, and try to write an answer. If u r not sure, always ask them to clarify what they have said. If u dont understand the question, say so. Take notes during the interview, it can ensure that people interviewing you will not try to bs u as anything they say might come back on them. It also allows u to refer back to previous questions and answers u have given, also buys u thinking time.

Thanks Polotoo. The first appeal was today, pretty straightforward. But tomorrow is when we have to state our case.....for 20 mins! Thanks for your good luck message.

Thank you Patc for your valuable advice. Will do that now.
These are just normal people like yourself, treat them as if you had met them at the supermarket or whatever. I'm sure they would want you to relax but if you can't, imagine them sitting there with no clothes on, this immediately puts you in a superior position!!! Be prepared and once you get started you'll be fine.

just because people are better educted than others, it does not mean that you are less than them, so dont let them bully you or make you feel less than them.

Keep calm, think about what you say, and this will ensure your confidence shines out.

All the best
