I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Its quite fun but it does depend on what you are going to use it for for. 90% of the time I use my desk top PC. Typing on a virtual keyboard will slowly drive you mad.

There are plenty of good value laptops out there. Try a big branch of Tesco. And borrow a tablet if you can for a couple of days and see how you get on with it. Personally a prefer a "proper" computer !
I have the same as Mikey, which I am using now whilst drinking my tea in the kitchen. I tend to use it for convenience. It takes up less room in the kitchen if I am following a recipe for example. I use it when Mr Tilly is using the laptop so there's no arguments. It takes lovely photographs. I don't likeit for writing any more than one sentence because the keyboard is irritating. It has taken me ages to write this.

Thanks for the replies,it's just that the laptop is so old and slow I was thinking of changing and yesterday noticed a group of kids all with their tablets and they just seemed to be so handy.
Paddy, get yourself into a good tech store and have a play around with all of them, you'll find one you like. I've actually got so used to the keyboard on the iPad that I have problems on the laptop, not good when I'm trying to get my MS Office skills up :)
Google Nexus 10". I got the 7" in December and love it.
