Safe Mode

My fiance has a Smart phone and recently put a fancy sticker on the back of the phone just to "jazz it up"
After doing so, a message saying "Safe Mode" appeared on the phone screen.
Does anybody what this "Safe Mode" is and how to get rid of it ?

Has he looked in the user handbook? What is the model?

(No handbook with iphones either but can access one online)

btw, is it a metallic type sticker, could it be interfering with the signal or causing some other problem?

Yes... Metallic Sticker but removed it and phone is going ok.
Will remove the battery and re-boot it an see what happens.
