So now moving away from the immigration/EU issues Farage is clearly seeking the support of women.
Will this start to make him more credible, will it increase his voter base? I'd be particularly interested to hear from the ladies on here.

If he wants to be credible he needs to stop getting headlines where his councillors are blaming floods on same-sex marriage legislation.
I'm willing to accept that the nutters are a minority of UKIP - but they come out of the woodwork with alarming regularity and until he gets on top of party discipline UKIP will continue to be seen as a party of old-fart-telegraph-reading-reactionaries

I can't see how he is seeking support from women, he is just stating facts.

The difficulty here is that UKIP is a one-trick pony. The only reason that they exist is to get Britain out of Europe, and Farage has admitted as much. You can expect more high jinks and nonsense from them as we run down to the Euro elections this May. It doesn't really matter what they do or say...the media will be there, making sure that they remain in the glare of publicity. The best thing that we can all do is to ignore them, just like a spoilt little brat at a birthday party.

You do have to hand it to Farage - I've not seen someone so openly "court" the public since Blair.
He has worked hard to achieve an authenticity which Cameron and Miliband could only dream of.
Clegg could possibly manage it if he could step away from the reflective nature of his party. The lib dems feel a bit like a trauma support group sometimes.

i did read it correctly, this won't win him women fans - the same tired old argument, no one ever says if men have children it will affect their work, if they take paternity leave, or become sole carer for a time for their children

This is because men do not have to take time off to have a child, only women can give birth that is a biological fact that at this point in time cannot be altered, and only a very few men take months off work while their wives carry on with their jobs.

As for his comments re working women in the finance sector - they are risible.

"These remarks reflect an incredibly narrow view of worth. The days when you evaluate someone's contribution based on their book of contacts are long gone and employers risk losing out on top talent if that is their attitude," she said.
Later, Farage was met by animal rights protesters and hit over the head by one as he visited Margate, Kent, near to the South Thanet seat where he could stand at the next election. Police had to intervene to protect the Ukip leader as he was mobbed by campaigners."

his comments are risible, silly fool, men do take paternity leave, and no one thinks any less of them, its an outdated, outmoded idea that a woman has a child will automatically dump the job, if she is a careerist she won't, but have baby and then after maternity leave go back to work. I know lots of women who had babies, a month of two after were back in the office, the biggest drawback for women not to return to their workplace if they don't have a well enough paid job to be able to afford decent childcare.
