I just noticed that last year I only listened to about 5 new albums and only listened to two on a regular basis and they were both bands that I'm a big fan of anyway, Queens of the Stone Age and Eminem. Do you listen to much new music or just stick to what you know?

Last year I mainly remember listening to Arctic Monkeys and QOTSA; man hostage is a big QOTSA fan and I don't mind them but out of the two I prefer the Arctics and I really liked the album. So far this year I've only listened to the new Beyonce album and from that I have concluded only three songs were worth keeping.

I think I am starting to get a bit old and set in my ways as I find myself not really listening out for much new music anymore at all... plus cause man hostage is really in to music, I suppose I get a bit lazy because he plays me stuff he's listening to as well. I'm more likely to go out and source new authors/books :c)
I think with the advent of being able to 'cherry pick' music to dowload in MP3 format this has changed how we buy music.

I recall buying albums on the strength of only a few tracks and not enjoying any of the others.

Nowadays its all killer - no filler!
sorry, forgot to add - with websites such as youtube its a great way to introduce yourself to new music that you may've not heard of before.
No, I tend to stick to tried and tested music.
Elton John - The Diving Board
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP 2
David Bowie - The Next Day
Atoms for Peace - Amok
Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg
Paul McCartney - New
Daft Punk - Random Access Memories
I listen to and buy albums that are new to me, but they seem to be about 20+ years old.
The ones I posted? They were all released in 2013.
Albums? Buying? What are these words?
Most music we listen to now is on Spotify...and it suggests music "you may like" based on recent-past track choices. Get some good pointers.

In relation to what Booldawg said, I've felt that for a long while now. With mp3 there is a tendency to flit between random songs by various artists rather than listening to entire albums in one sitting.
