Powerpoint slide show

I have in the past had no problems producing a slide show with my holiday photos. Today however, i get what I want in the place holder and it is fine to view in normal view, but in slide view the picture is too big for the placeholder and this is also in sort mode, Help and Office Assistant are both USELESS? Where have I gone wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
