I am sorry but in the UK NO dogs(or other animals for tmatter) are allowed in shops, even in a pet stroller. It is not the dog walking in the shop, but BEING in the shop that counts, usually for hygiene reasons.
The only exceptions are Guide Dogs and sometimes Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

Many thanks for that:)
Sorry Mr Veritas, but that is a load of b*ll*x. There is no such law. Animals are allowed in any shop or even restaurant, apart from food preparation areas in restaurants or hotels.
The Kennel Club are running a campaign at present to encourage shop or business owners to apply for a sticker saying 'Open for Dogs' if they allow pets in.

Lankeela is right. There is no law preventing dogs going into shops or restaurants, although shopkeepers/restauranteurs(sp), etc. are at liberty to refuse dogs in their premises.

I often take my smallest dog under my arm into shops with no problem whatsoever unless there is a specific notice on the door saying 'No dogs'. I will not tie my dogs up outside a shop, ect under any circumstances.

Staff at our favourite pub/restaurant always come out with titbits and a bowl of water for our dogs.
