Why are our press going into such a frenzy over this, I could understand it if it had been one of our politicians 'playing away' but a Frenchman, who happens to be the President why?

The 'First Lady' isn't even his wife?

Yes, AOG, reported in other papers and on other stations, but not necessarily for the same reasons. Papers which entertain their readers daily with stories and gossip of the private lives of soap actors, foreign models, Kim Kardashian and all the rest, or have a 'sidebar of shame' ,may not be interested in this famous person . the President of France, for quite the same reasons as the serious papers which don't entertain their readers with the sidebar and all the rest
because it's hilarious, Mitterand all over again, or perhaps any French politician, they are not short on libido...
think if this had been Cameron, you don't think our tabloids and populace wouldn't have a field day

That sounds as if you have taken that straight from a certain Morecambe and Wise, Andre Previn sketch.

" I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order".

Eleven minutes into the YouTube video.

Indeed, AOG, and Mr Previn played the right notes in the right order, as he demonstrated.

Now, which paper has a sidebar of shame, and fills its pages with stories about minor celebrities, I wonder?

I'm sure they would... but it wasn't. It was a small country far away of which we know very little. Does anyone here really care about the French president's girlfriends?
LOL@jno.

Yup, less than thirty miles is far enough away for me.And the Hexagone is over twice the area of the UK, so that's pretty small.

Normally, the French are not interested in their Presidents' extra-marital affairs though, so , when they are, it is of interest here, just because of the novelty.
Hollande is not popular, he wasn't when he came to power, now he has introduced a hike in taxes for the so called wealthy, even less so, having a tangled love life is nothing new for French Politicians, but actually it is problematic if it interferes with his day to day running of the country, as it would be for any PM or President, that is if it gets out, which this has.
I dont think the french press were allowed to print anything about the president while he was in office, as for the first lady(or second or third etc) what goes round comes round, it did not bother her to have an affair with him while he was still in a relationship with the mother of his children.
