Back in the early seventies at seconday modern school, I took some exams but cannot remember if they were GCSE or GCE. If I was ever given paper certificates I have mislaid them, would I be able to get copies this far down the line? They were exams like English Language, English Literature, Geography, Religious Studies and History.

gcse came in in the 80s, so yours will be gce.

don't know whether you can get copies though

Or they might be CSE's. GCSE amalgameted the old GCE (O level) and the CSE
I have the same problem. Try contacting [email protected] and [email protected]. (Contact both, as from what I can gather, each office holds different archives for different examination boards) Give them as much information as you can, such as approx date of your exams and whereaboutsin the UK you sat them. I received two very helpful emails with details of what they can supply and how much it will cost (not cheap, I'll warn you now) Good luck.
