Seafront Warnings

Despite all the warnings about seafronts, in connection with this storm we have footage on BBC of a small crowd, including one little-un, shrieking with delight at the crashing waves. Not to mention all the journalists doing their piece to camera with their backs turned to the source of danger.

There is an obvious question to ask but I've searched for older threads and I can only assume that asking the question, or variants on it, gets the thread deleted.

Note: the question will certainly be deemed to be in poor taste in the event of _______s.

So, the challenge here is not to guess the question but to beat around the bush while discussing the subject without anyone actually blurting out the question and getting the thread zapped.

Some people just don't seem to have any idea of the power of water and the potential danger. I lived by the sea, including right on the seafront for part of the time and I don't think a lot of people realise just how crazy things can get.

I agree about what the water carries, we used to get people with loudhailers coming down advising people to move their cars off the seafront as part of the beach including stones would end up all over the promenade. I remember times when the spray from the sea would hit the windows of my flat two a couple of storeys up.

I also agree about the dangers it also puts others in, it's irresponsible.

Same here.

I know it would be irresponsible to suggest it and it goes against the entire ethos of the rescue services but part of me would like to see a sign put up, warning people that they visit the seafront entirely at their own risk and that rescue services are unavailable until the weather improves.
