My friend has recently got a laptop (silver surfer) & has set up a gmail account which she is happy with. She is with BT broadband Option 1 package for all her calls & internet.
I have the same Bt broadband package but also bt email account so could she get a cheaper monthly rate. She insists she was told no but I`m not so sure.
We both pay our line rental in advance saving quite a bit!

Do you mean you think because she doesn't use her BT email address that she should be paying less?

A BT address comes with the broadband - most providers do that. Its up to the individual if you use it or not.

No I meant that maybe because she is not using her bt email she is paying more for using gmail.
Hope you get my drift!!!
You don't pay for gmail, it's a free email service.
Concur with r.r. Do you mean her package is dearer than yours?
Question Author
Yes she is paying more than me.
There are many different BT packages out there, some have been great introductory rates - I know, I have BT Broadband myself. You don't pay extra for the BT email and don't pay anything for gmail. What each of you pay is the rate applying at the time - the only people who can tell you if your friend's account is liable for any discounts would be BT.

We all pay line rental in advance, don't we?
Question Author
Thanks all, yes I realise these packages vary according to time of joining company. She was obviously not as lucky as me! But told her to ring them in a few months time when she can probably get a better deal.
Adverts asking you to move are not always the right package for you.
