I am itching to get mine down but my suggestion was met with howls of outrage from the kids.

A friend of mine just unplugs the lights and carries the tree, fully decorated, to the spare room where it sits for 11 months of the year.

It's only about 3 or 4 feet so it's not to difficult!
*too*
Some time over the weekend I guess, or maybe one evening this week.... they only went up on 22nd so I'm still enjoying the tree lights; other than that there is only a bit of tinsel to take down really and a couple of nik-naks, we don't put too much up.
New years day.

Well now you mention it, I think our Tree and Decs are still in the attic of the house we moved out of last January, and have probably been there for 5 or 6 years without seeing daylight.
6th January- 12th night, any later and I'll get loads of bad luck!
I take things down bit by bit so it doesnt look too bare all of a sudden. But I cant wait till theyre all down and have a good clean and dust again.
I arrived at work this morning to find them all taken down at the weekend. It looks really bare
It's so dreich outside it's nice and cheery to have tree and cards etc still up-they come down on 6th January.
Mine always come down on New Year's day, all over for another year then as far as I'm concerned. I do miss the tree twinkling away in the corner though !
took mine down today and the house looks great !
