Does anyone know where in the Peak District is the scene where Keira Knightley is standing on what appears to be a huge rock with a superb view over the Peaks? I've checked IMDb and the US dvd by the way.

Stanage Edge. Some Peak District websites have some great photographs of the escarpement but I remember it being difficult to get to by car and I ended up walking most of the way. Nearest town of any size is Hathersage. The area is popular, not surprisingly, with rock climbers.

Thanks henneth it is Stannage Edge, I asked the same Q on Film topic and now you've confirmed it. Now have to find it on a map.

......... and here is Stanage Edge (know it well, have hiked along there many times). And here is a map showing the location of Stanage Edge (look just above Hathersage more or less in the centre) .....

Thanks Tatty thats excellent, I plan to go there this Summer. My wife loved the movie and all things Jane Austin so we'll go there aswell as Chatsworth & Hadden Hall.

It would be well worth a visit to Stamford - Lincolnshire Home of the Bennets, a lot of interesting places and nice shops. river and park. Burghley House -Stamford was used as Mr Dacey home and is an impressive house Both easy to get to off the A1. They did a lot of filming in stamford.

Thanks pega, I just checked the map and also noticed that Kirby Hall, where Mansfield Park was filmed, is in the same neck of the woods so will include on next visit to the area. Was Burghley used for interior shots of Darcy's house cos I thought his house was Chatsworth or was it his 2nd/London home?

pega,

I'm afraid you are mistaken about Burghley House. It was used as Lady Catherine's house 'Rosings', the character played by Judi Dench.
