I am feeling full of self righteousness having completed a significant part of the CHristmas shopping. Most of the non perishable food is bought, some presents are bought, the decs will be bought tomorrow.

THis is the first year since I cant remember when that I haven't started on 23 December.......

#seemyhalo# ;) I am a goddess.

Never, ever start until December. We just haven't got anywhere to hide it all - the kids get far too much stuff. I think we over compensate because we are the only ones who buy them anything (my father sends money). I'm lucky because himself will the presents (hence why they get so much stuff) and I do food and getting the kids organised for all their parties and plays, etc.
I'm asking for ideas! Four children, two nephews, niece, sister, parents, OH and his family plus stockings. And clients. Really need to get started! Got rid of tree last year, as old, broken and battered. Does anyone have opinions on fibre-optic trees?
Queenofmean has decided that we will be changing all our Christmas decorations this year, she wants a Nordic theme. We should be able to use some of our existing stuff but we will need some new things. Started buying gifts months ago, have cards and wrapping ready, I just need her to find the address book and we shall get them done! Queenie is also going to be in charge of the Christmas baking! (I haven't told her yet!) She shouldn't have any problems though she is a very good baker
I'm the same, sherr- nowhere to hide it all and i do get the children quite a lot for Christmas and birthdays, because they get nothing all year :-\. Trying to wrap it all while they're not around is difficult, too. And although i love Christmas and usually start early, i like the house back to normal before New Year.
I haven't started, I need to start though, town was horrible today, getting busier.

Hmmm...I need to make a list though having minor surgery Monday so maybe next weekend if not too sore.
While my bladder op is hovering in the back ground, Xmas is the last thing on my mind! Miserable ole moo arent I.
No little kiddies to shop for, so its not too bad is it.
Pixie, I have an arrangement with my DIL, she makes Amazon wishlists for herself, my son, and the grandchildren. I do the same for OH and me.
Then we purchase something off the wishlists. No disappointments or duplicated, and no worrying.
Why have left the tribe, BM ? We'll miss you badly. The rest of us tribe members don't hit the shops until the 24th of December and in 'rest of us' I include the whole of my family, women and men. The shops are quiet then, and if you need a turkey, the local market will have one for about fourpence if you go late enough; of course, it may be big enough to feed twenty and need cooking from 4 a.m, but, hey, that's cheap and it's Christmas.
Started? Finished weeks ago. Pressies wrapped but cards not quite finished yet!

I know, smug b******d!
Outside is all the banging and whizzing of fireworks going on and you have Christmas sorted Barmaid! Well done.
cant afford to buy presents this year so keeping it very low key
I went shopping in Waitrose today ... like a different world from Aldi.

I did buy myself a Christmas bottle of Bunnahabhain though :-)

not in my house jordyboy, never in my house.
I am not doing any cards this year, I have told most of my friends/relatives. All children will get a prezzie to open, all 18s and over will get money, I am fed up with spending loads of money and time sussing out presents suitable, then see them months later on ebay.
Brilliant idea, ferlew. Thanks! I do usually give them an amount to order online and i wrap it, as harder to choose now they're teenagers. Then i just make it up with a few "surprises". But never thought of using the wish list.
We have few to buy in terms of presents - no adults get gifts these days (nor do they buy for us). We share Christmas meal with a group of neighbours so no need to buy in stacks of food - I have dozens of cards left over from last Christmas so not buying any new ones this year. Hundreds of decorations and several trees out in the shed. I think all I might need to buy is some stamps for the cards!
Mrs. Jom has bought her presents and given them to me for wrapping along with the receipts. I wont be wrapping the receipts as I don't want her to know how much the presents cost.
