Sadly reminiscent of Dame Edna Everage playing one of these old West End theatres: "Those in the stalls and circle, clap as much as you like. You poor people, up there in the upper circle, please don't clap. You'll need one hand to hang on with; don't want the theatre full of plummeting paupers!"

The conditions back stage, and generally, of these places have been commented upon in The Stage for years. Perhaps this will cause something to be done.

It wasn't the balcony or the roof that collapsed, it was a large chunk of ornate plaster work that came loose, and fell to ground.
