I am going to be writing an essay about two poets of the Victorian era.. My topic is repressed sexuality in the poems that can be unlocked and brought to the surface by close reading and interpretation or psychoanalysis. One will be Christina Rossetti, and I will analyse "Goblin Market" and the sexual reading this gives out, but i need a suggestion for the other one! Can anyone please think of any? They need to be female, Victorian writers.
Thanks in advance x

try one of the Bronte poems, they are very much influenced by their isolation but that is a part of who they were, their contact with the opposite sex was confused and limited.
Don't know if she qualifies for the Victorian era - maybe a bit too early - but Dorothy Wordsworth may yield something, since there was supposed to be an incestuous relationship between her and William. That's probably a load of tosh but maybe you could reach your own conclusions?
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Definitely Charlotte Mew - she was a lesbian Victorian poet who expressed her sexuality through writing her poems from a male perspective
