Has anyone any experience with online conveyancing? I'm looking for a quote for sale of my current house and purchase of a new one, and the online quotes are much cheaper than the traditional method (visiting a solicitor's office in person).

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.

i havent done "online" conveyancing but found a conveyancer online, and its so much cheaper than a solicitor. i needed some papers urgently and asked them to email me them but was told that some legal paperwork needs the actual original so not able to do it online.

Thanks very much gina.
I used an online conveyancer last year when I sold my house and everything went very smoothly, and for half the price I was quoted by a local Solicitor. Everything was done either online or through the post and was very straightforward.

Thanks kristy. Did you buy a property using the same conveyancer?
Yes I did and no problems there either. They sent me docs by email or post.

Thanks again kristy. Do you have a www address for the one you used please?

Thanks for that. I'll ask them for a quote.
i used one, their online quote being around £300 for a leasehold and my usualy solicitor wanted £500.

i was only selling, not buying and yet with extra letters and things the bill came to £800

I even got charged £50 for exchange and complete within 7 days of each other. They pushedfor that, they had origially given a later date to complete

Thanks red. That's a huge difference from the price you were quoted. I'll bet you were spitting feathers!
