If i was concerned that everything i typed was being logged, what is the most effective way to ensure i know this is going to happen before i type anything?

I read once that pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del will display everything that is running and this should show up stuff like that.

Does anyone know if that is true?

Have you tried it? ; )

Ctrl+Alt+Del will bring up the task manager, if you click the 'processes' tab you can see a list of all active programs, but be warned there will be a lot of them, so it helps if you know what your looking for.

Your not paranoid though, we really are spying on you! lol
Do you use virus protection and spy ware software? Is so has it picked up any problems?

C A D will show programs that are running (under processes) but you will need to go through each item and some wont be clear what they are.

Never used any, but google list a lot of tools that could help http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&sa=X&oi=s pell&resnum=0&ct=result&cd=1&q=keylogger+remov al&spell=1

Lol... i don't have one on here at the mo but there is a chance that one will appear... it's happened before, put it that way. Different machine and someone got rid of it for me. Long story, but i don't know him any more, so he can't help!

I do use virus stuff and i have a spyware thing i got from somewhere but i do worry that it will get past the thing i have.

Will check that link. Thanks.
You can't really tell if anyone is reading what you're typing. Some keyloggers show up in the processes box. The better ones run at a lower system level and don't show up. Or they won't be software-based at all.

It really ends up depending on how paranoid you really are...

Why has it got anything to do with how paranoid i am?!

Lol.

My paranoia, or not, is irrelevant.
ok...any key logger worth it's salt will not show up in the task box, it will have it's files buried deep in the program file or windows folder so forget that.

Run spybot atleast once per day if internet browsing for more that an hour: this should get rid of any key loggers.
http://www.spybot.info/

Also have an anti virus:AVG
http://www.grisoft.com/doc/71/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

And adaware to ged rid of advert software: http://www.lavasoft.de/

AND a firewall to prevent nasty programs such as Keyloggers etc...from sending their data or hopefully preventing them in the first place.

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/home.jsp

ALL of these products are 100% free. You may have to hunt about their sites for a while to find the free versions, but it's worth it.

I would also recommend www.anonymizer.com
This basically protects your IP address so that people can't track you or do other nasties. It's not vital but helps.

Use all of these products, run the software such as spybot and adaware after every internet session or a few times a week and you'll be virus / spyware free and have a happy PC.

And remember password protect your computer and never let anyone you don't 100% trust use your PC...for anything. Treat your PC like your personal diary, people can learn ALOT more from your PC than they ever could from a diary!

Your right to be Paranoid....it's so easy to get personal information from peoples computers if they don't take care....it's only a question of when will you get targeted!! And on that happy note...goodluck.
Sorry, my point is that there is almost an infinite amount of stuff you can do to stop people being able to spy on you. Your paranoia governs how far you to go prevent the spying, and at what point you stop and give up. For example, it may be just a simple software keylogger. But it could be a hardware keylogger which is harder to spot. Or maybe you have an open wireless internet connection and someone is grabbing your packets to see what you're typing and what websites you're visiting. Then your ISP is probably reading and filtering your information, so in some ways they're spying on you. Or it's possible to get devices that can read a screen from the electromagnetic information it radiates, which can be built easily into a van outside your house. Etc. But it's going a bit far and definitely off-topic really.

Basically, do the ctrl+alt+del thing as you thought, and kill anything you think is logging your keys. But as whowhatwhy points out, no decent keylogger would appear there anyway.

Thanks all.

I appreciate all comments, believe me.

I once had a keylogger installed on my pc by someone i know and only found it by accident.

If that happened again the info that could be gained would be too horrendous to think about.

No paranoia... just being practical!

Thanks :0)
Well, I couldn't understand your question well.

If this question is related to keylogger, if you want to know about the best keylogger, then I would suggest to use Spyrix.com it is the most popular as of now.

Thanks
