Is the page that you want to add the counter to uploaded and online?
Is there a specific bit of the page that you want the counter added to for it to be visible?

If all else fails, right click on your html page, "Open With" Notepad and add the html right at the bottom just above the
</body> tag, then save.
You might also post this on the PagePlus newsgroup which is usually quite helpful.

thanks both of you I think I cracked it with the help ofSerif Tech support and the help pages but as I asked for it not to be visible I need to the visit the site for stats which I have not done yet. I will certainly try the page plus newsgroup if I have further difficulty with this or anything else
Yes stevie the page was uploaded and online and has been updated (I think!)
wendyl - post a link to the page (including some pointer to the bit that you want to include if it's not already there) if you want more detailed help.
