I don't believe anyone under the age limit as Yorky Lass has stated will receive WFA. DLA alone doesn't qualify for it. DLA recipients may qualify for cold winter payment where the temperature is below a certain degree for so many days providing they are in receipt of means tested benefits. That is what I understand, maybe I am wrong and apologise if I am.

As I won't become a pensioner until age 66 I assume I won't be able to claim it before then. So I've got a dozen or so years to wait, but I'm not convinced it'll still be given to all pensioners by then. The payment does seem a bit of an anomaly to me (since there must be many non-pensioners who need it more than some pensioners) but as i don't like means testing I'd much rather see it added to the basic weekly state pension or make it subject to tax for those pensioners above the tax threshold
Last year, my payment was in the bank some weeks before the confirmation letter arrived!
Anniesquith yes indeed fingers crossed eh.
Please, do not tell Ian Duncan Smith about your winter fuel payment. He is the man that is trying to take it away from you. He says that you are not entitled to this payment.
Hawksley- are you talking about all WFAs or just certain recipients?
Or is it just another anti Tory rant?
Apart from my WFA, I received £135.00 from the Gov, paid into my energy suppler about a month ago.
You’ll qualify for Winter Fuel Payment if:
you were born on or before 5 January 1952 (for winter 2013 to 2014 - this date changes every year)
you normally live in the UK throughout the week of 16 to 22 September 2013
Factor Fiction , I am not anti coalition or anti Labour, it is a fact IDS wants to stop winter fuel payments to Pensioners .

IDS has simply proposed the ending of some universal benefits to pensioners. i.e. he's suggesting that the money currently given to multi-millionaires could be better used to help the poorer members of society (which is actually a 'socialist' policy!). He has NOT proposed scrapping winter fuel payments to everyone.

Ive found in the past, as soon as you get your letter regarding the winter fuel payment, that it has already gone in the bank. i didnt get mine until the end of november last year, so still waiting for mine.
I`ve got my winter fuel payment just last week.It wes £100. My wife has yet to get hers. She also gets £100=£200 between us.But that £200 will only pay for,I guess, about 1-2 months of power of gas/electric if we are lucky. So it`s not that generous really---though I/we are grateful for it. As they say "Every little helps"
