Hi all, I have now been smoke free for almost a week. Yay me! However, I've just started getting big cravings and have turned to good old food. I'm also using Champix and think they are messing with my moods!
Any encouragement, help or experiances would be so greatly received. (Or any sweets!) Lol.

I'm sending you a big bag of lollipops to you tigger.

well done on staying off the cigs for a week! your doing really well! if its possible try going for a run when your feeling a bad craving.

well done and keep at it! x
Suck a mint
It worked for me, been smoke free for nearly 9 years
Also, a mate stopped 2 years ago, he got a 'cash 4 ash' tin and each day he put the money he would have spent on fags and that money pays for a family holiday abroad each year so that's a pretty good incentive

PS Keep up the good work, it's well worth it
I gave up last September and I found it quite easy. For some reason I became sick of the smell and taste it left in my mouth.

Scroll down and try some of these:

well done tigger :)

I think its only natural to turn to food because you probably dont know what to do with your hands. My dad gave up smoking for a couple of weeks a while ago and did loads of crosswords and puzzles which helped him stop reaching for the ciggies.

Have you thought of cutting up fruit or veggies to eat instead of sweets (sorry im laughing here at greedy guts sugar tooth me advising people to eat healthy stuff)

Thank you all!

The problem at the minute is work. The only time I got out for a break was to smoke! Standing outside would just look odd! May go for a small jog when I'm not at work but I'm far from running fitness yet!
Munching on salad and mints (no, not together!)

Well done you - I found my biggest problem when I gave up 20 odd years ago was not so much the craving but having the cigarette in my hand. Tried many things but this worked and I've passed it on to friends and they found it helped too.

Sounds mad but buy a 6 inch bolt with a nut on it from a hardware store. Spin the nut up and down the bolt everytime you get an urge, it helped me. Also when you want to 'taste' a cigarette try rinsing your mouth with strong mouthwash puts an entirely different taste in your mouth and kills the craving for a short time - and is not as fattening as endless sweeties lol!

I had the mother of all bad days yesterday and smoked three cigarettes last night....one after another. I hadn't had a smoke for six months. Bad boy I know.
Well done. I have been smoke free for 5 years now. I still get the odd big craving but not so often as I used to. One of the best pieces of advice I got sounded bizarre but it works.

When you have a craving for a cigarette promise yourself that you will not have one now but you will have one in half an hours time. You will find that in half an hours time you won't want one the craving will have gone! It really is like that. The craving only lasts for the amount of time it would normally take you to smoke a cigarette.
Read this to the end before you ignore it,
Giving up smoking is easy,
ITS NOT STARTING AGAIN THATS THE HARD BIT!!!!!!
Keep away from the places that you are likely to weaken, the pub or whatever.
Every day it gets easier, then you will think you can just have the one ciggy because youve cracked it Dont do it. There is no such thing as just the one
Best of luck.
Well done!
I'm sending you a ciggarette
tiggertan - It's hard, well done!
Encouragement - People will have noticed you do not smell of cigarettes anymore. When you are a smoker, you are unaware how awful the smell is to those around you. It makes a massive difference.
