Hiya abers, just had a call from hospital after last weeks pre op check.
They have said that my white blood cells are too high.
They should be between 3--11.
Mine are 13. I have to have another blood test tomorrow at hospital.

Why is this, should i be very worried!!! (My bladder op is on 13th November)

An infection is most likely. Wait for the results before you worry x
Up a bit......no big deal.

Good rule in medicine: if an investigation comes back with an unexpected result.....then repeat it.....and it will probably come back normal.

No you shouldn't be very worried.

Many thanks pixie, Squad!
I'm trying not to worry and now I wont, as you have said it could be ok on the next blood test. Fingers crossed then, and will update when i get results x
Just to say that if you were anxious about the blood test that stress can 'release' the WBC that usually live along the walls of our blood vessels. Having said that, 13 is not particularly significant.

jakep, thanks for your reply!

I said I wouldnt google as it can frighten you, but hey, it said its possibly an infection with my count being higher.
It seems that it could be worse if it was lower? Oh well, I refuse to worry! x

Feeling annoyed but relieved today, as my 13th November op has been cancelled due to surgeon not able to be there! No blood tests results yet.
Waiting for new op date!
