I'm still having trouble (I am not familiar with the TV programme) and cannot understand the wordplay
It seems 'dragon' is the straight part of the clue ... where is the cryptic component?

I've finally surrendered to Mr Mayer and now look if he is the ST compiler; if so, I purchase the Sunday Telegraph instead. Sunday mornings are too precious to spend too much time on crosswords. I rise early around 5am and like the crossword to last about an hour or so until "The Shop Steward" arises. I'm lucky enough to have an understanding newsagent who opens at 5.00am.
