I have always understood that if themed then at least a mention is made that say 8 or so clues are all the same kind . I think Philistine more than lived up to the name here. A poor crossword.

the theme does appear in the online edition david, it looks like a grauniad error in the printed paper

just plodding through it now, tbh more out a sense of "I've started so I'll bloody well finish" than real enjoyment
