I have an ambition to visit a friend who lives 210 miles away -.on foot. I am used to.distance walking (not obviously that far though).and intend to take a week to 10 days to accomplish this. Does anyone think that is feasible, or has anyone ever done such a journey? Of course the route will be planned for stops etc. thank :-)

Bet they are out when you get there.....
If people can walk from John o' Groats to Lands End, it's certainly feasible.
what is your walking pace? you would have to do at least 21 miles a day, and when you say 210 miles, is that by road? Bear in mind you won't probably want to walk by road
Question Author
I was aiming for about 20mi per day average. trying to avoid A roads were possible.
then you'll need more than 10 days i'm afraid
I think that if you are fit and used to walking that kind of distance it would be a grand thing to do but you are setting yourself the task of walking (almost) the equivalent of a marathon a day for 10 days.
Thats a big undertaking.

I did think that was a 'best case scenario' . I don't really mind how long, but am just trying to work it out. I would love to do it one day. If time does become an issue, the journey could always become a combination of walking and some public transport. thank you :-)
Best of luck if you do!
But make sure they will be in....
Would be handy to know (roughly) your start and finish points as there may be a long distance trail you could follow for part of the way. I have found that you can walk yourself into fitness in 3 or 4 days but fatigue sets in towards the end.
At all costs look after your feet as blisters are a frustrating way to have to call off a walk.

True. a marathon each day ! That's a real perspective on it. Thanks for all answers. all appreciated. it will happen one day, one way or another :-)

SE to NW . East Anglian flatlands to N Yorks. So, increasingly difficult terrain :-\
Why not get sponsors and do it for charity?
Why not do it as a sponsored walk for charity?
Good luck Bee. My walks have been mostly things like Pennine Way and SW coast footpath but my favourite was down the West side of the Highlands of Scotland in glorious weather on a route we worked out as we went along.

CCharity . why not? A great idea. And thanks Seadogg , it will be planned,.but largely 'unscripted'. Thanks again everyone! :-) :-)
