Im dyslexic and about to start an apprentership, does anyone know of a portable devise that I could enter a word as it sounds and it will tell me how it is spelt please

I can't think of one, but it's a good idea. what sort of apprenticeship are you starting? As long as your employer knows you are dyslexic, they'll make allowances and hopefully help you.
Power on your Windows computer. Click on the “Start” button. Select “Control Panel.” Select “Ease of Access.” Select “Speech Recognition.” Next, you will configure your microphone for Speech Recognition. Select if you have a headset or a standard microphone.

There is a Dyslexia Dictionary. I used to use it when I was a Special Needs teacher about ten years ago. I don't know if it's still published, and it wasn't very easy to use.
My son is also dyslexic. He used a dictaphone whilst at school to say things because he had problems writing thing down.
There will be some form of an app if you have a compatible phone/tablet/ipad etc.
