I have s*a*c*r but I simply cannot think what the answer might be.
And while I am on. "Island rescuers on road caught boy almost meeting early death" I think the answer is Isaac. I can see "island" and "caught" and Isaac fits the description. But "road rescuers" could be RAC which would give Iracc. But SAA?Can't see it. Please help!

thanks. I see the Isaac solution now. Why was I fixed on RAC rather than AA? Dunno. But now crystal clear. Thank you.
I still don't get the other one. I see "scarer" around "c" but why "scarcer"?
And "scarecrow" doesn't fit ,Danny.

I sort of see the answer now. But it's not a great clue imho.
