Hello, I've had my o2 contract for over 2yrs now, as I couldn't find a deal until now. How do I now cancel my contract? Does the 30day notice still apply as I have gone way over my original 12mth contract?

Thanks

did you take a upgrade on your phone from them after the 1st 12 mths,if so then you would have taken out another 12 month contract,if no upgrade has been taken then they will insist on a 30 day notice.

No, i did not upgrade or take out another contract. I've never heard from them since my original contract expired. I think I will inform them to cancel it with immediate affect. See what happens. Do you know how to cancel? do I need to put in writing?

thanks
Just give them a ring (the number is on the 02 website) and they will cancel it from there and give you more details
watch out for their customer service. We called to cancel a contract and they had the nerve to try and suggest that because it hadnt been cancelled when the last 12 months were up that a new contract had started and we had 10 months to go.
They got a few choice words from us and suddenly realised that they had made a mistake. I wonder how many people believe such stuff and stay with contracts.
redcrx is right.

My O2 contract was due to run out in March, I phoned up and explained that I wanted a better deal or I'd no longer stay with them, when they got funny saying they couldn't offer anything better I asked how much notice they needed or if the contract would be cancelled as I wasn't going to renew, they said it ran on and would only be cancelled if I spoke to their 'department' that deals with cancellations. Although it's bad it also stated in my renewal contract (needless to say they gave me what I wanted!) that my contract will automatically renew itself at the end of term unless I contacted them to cancel it.

Good luck.
same as red spoke to someone who left me on hold (in India) for 15 minutes and was arguing with me over cancelling my o2 phone as I had a new one. even though my contract had run out. They will do anything to keep you on, very patronising. Stick to your guns when you call them.

Thanks guys! I phones O2 this afternoon, and spoke to a very nice lady. She asked the usual questions...why I was cancelling, the deals they could offer me blah blah. But I made it clear what I wanted and she said my contract would be complete on June 14th. I guess I will have to wait and see whether they stick to their word!
o2 is terrible im attempting to cancel mine at the moment as i no longer use all the minutes i get so im basically spending money on something i dont use...
im intrigued to know why they have NOTHING on the help section of their website stating how to cancel....
i am with carphone warehouse and o2. i had to phone 0870 111 7200. press the options to get through to a human eventually. they ask you all the stuff about leaving, etc. and talk rubbish about matching your new contract. you will need a disconnection reference number from them and an address to write your cancellation notice to.
