Can any one tell me how does Paypal work when paying for items. I know that I have to sign up to Paypal and give bank card detail, like details cards etc. This is part I am confused with, if I decide to buy an item from Ebay via debit card, do I still need to fill in my bank card details on the ebay, or can I leave it blank and just click on the paypal logo to pay for goods.
As TWR says click on Pay-pal. This will take you to the Pay-pal site, enter your password and click on payment. You don't have to enter any card details at any stage, Pay pal has your card number, address etc.

Go for it, Jae. I've been using PayPal for years and years, and it saves so much hassle - eBay, Amazon, John Lewis, accommodation bookings, they all take it. You place the order, enter your PayPal password when prompted, and the seller gets their money without knowing anything about your banking details.
The only thing to watch for is when your card expires (after 4 years or so) and is replaced. Then you have to log into PayPal and update the card details, but at no other time.
I received an e-mail today – supposedly from Paypal, advising me that one of my bank/credit cards linked to my Paypal account was due to expire at the end of this month (citing the last 4 digits of the relevant card). The e-mail went on to advise that I update the card linked to my account.
There were no links to click-on within the e-mail, to take me to the Paypal website.
On looking in my wallet, the relevant credit card is indeed due to expire this month.
So not all e-mails supposedly from Paypal are scams – but it is as well to be on your guard re any communication from any financial organisation.
paypal will occasionally contact you. They will do this by using your first and second names, the scammers will use such titles as paypal user, etc. Only genuine Paypal e mails will use your name.
when you click to say that you want to pay by PayPal, the site then gives you two options - pay from your PayPal account, or pay by using another card. Either is OK. I don't enter any payment details on eBay, just go straight to PayPal.
Thanks every one for answering my query, so I am right in thinking that once I have signed up with Paypal I don't need to re -enter all my bank details on Ebay or any other shopping sites, all I have to do is go to the Paypal logo on Ebay click on that and enter my pass word ??
Once again thank you every one for answering my query, especially Vulcan42, so basically Paypay is the 'middleman' in these shopping transactions. I feel more confident because I really didn't want to be leaving my bank details on different sited all over the place. Thanks again.
Hi every one,
Sorry for going on about this but I do have one more question that I have to ask. When I go on to Ebay or Amazon do I need to put my address details on Ebay and Amazon when paying through paypal.
