I have been given a very uncomfortable velcro belt to wear across my hips/pelvis by my chiropractor. It is to hold my pelvis together. Has anyone else had to use these- and did you get any results? It is really painful sitting down (at work) as the belt creases and becomes like a rope. I have been told to wear it for 6 weeks!

If your pelvis was breaking apart you would need extensive surgery, a bit of velcro won't hold it together!

Get proper medical advice.

Hi Scarlett - what on earth would your pelvis need holding together for?? Sounds bizarre.

I'm very wary of chiropractors as a rule (apologies to any out there) but they get you in a viscious loop and once your in, you're not going to find it easy to leave.

I'd seriously ask your doctor if this 'therapy' is proven to be useful.

no - these are quite common!

my friend had to wear one for the last half of her pregnancy due to a seperated pelvis - very uncomfortable but fairly good results as it did help to support the back and pelvis!

Her problem sorted itself out after she gave birth, so I don't know how it would work on a longer term problem.

Hope this helps A xXx

I am certain he knows his stuff- I have had a very bad back problem for years, and I know that the problem is the ligaments, and due to years of back pain I have ended up walking and standing wrong, and I have an incredibly weak lower back and pelvis. Having seen many docs and specialists, what the chiropractor says actually seems to make sense. But the belt is SO uncomfortable...
