Because, when there are so many hot gay girls around, it's tempting to move on?

Lots of fish in the sea, etc?

What??

I'm just saying ...
SD.... I'm sitting on it now. 1 min for each year.....yikes.
I'm not sure it will prove to be true over a longer period and with a bigger sample; the sample is so small here as Jim says.

But, if the stats did prove what is claimed, I think Andrew has it. Women are unreasonable so two together are twice as likely to have unreasonable conduct ! :-)
Reading all these posts I wonder if any marriage or partnership ( straight or gay ) are ever really equal ? You might agree how the responsibilities , chores , finances etc are shared out but at the end of the day who is the one whose view is most likely to prevail.

With regards to the OP , I'm not suprised . Women are more emotional than men, therefore gay or straight they would reach the breakdown point
earlier.
In 2012:

The 'divorce' rate for gays is 32 per thousand
The 'divorce' rate for lesbians is 61 per thousand
The 'divorce' rate for heteros is 110 per thousand

The median duration for the hetero partnerships is 10 years, clearly the gay partnerships will be shorter to date

66% of hetero divorces are filed by the woman:

so if a 'female factor' was added to the gay male stat instead of two 'male factors' it would be estimated at 48 per thousand

and if the double 'female factor' was replaced by a male/female factor in the lesbian stat it would reduce to 46 per thousand

So the same

and lower than heteros (accepting the different durations to date)
There may be a clue in this from Denmark.

// the higher rate for lesbians [Divorcing] is consistent with data showing that women initiate most of the heterosexual divorces in Denmark. //

Perhaps that is the answer AOG. Women are more likely to end an heterosexual marriage, so are more likely to end a Lesbian one also (maybe doubly so).
"[The low numbers are] not in question, but what is however is the fact that Lesbians are more likely to separate from their 'other half' than male gays."

That may be true, but since both are fairly unlikely it's not clear that it matters, or that there are any particular underlying reasons for the difference. Given the short amount of time and the low numbers, I think it's far too early to draw any conclusions at all, except for the obvious -- that some relationships never work no matter who is involved.
